About

Mungindi Central School is a preschool to year 12 comprehensive school located in a small, resilient, community-minded rural border town on the New South Wales and Queensland border, 120 kilometres northwest of Moree. Built on Kamilaroi land and established in 1893, the school has a current enrolment of 70 students with 57% Aboriginal enrolment, where strong kinship ties within the community are mirrored in school life. The school is supported by the Northern Border Senior Access (NBSA) Program, which connects it with three other Central Schools to broaden curricular and engagement opportunities, and utilises up-to-date technology to support high levels of student retention to stage 6. Committed and qualified staff provide continuity and connectedness to community while supporting students beyond curriculum learning, and the school is implementing the Connected Communities Strategy to provide flexible and responsive place-based services addressing student, family and community needs.
