English/English Language Teacher

The role of a Secondary Teacher at Cornish College is to create a productive and positive learning environment for students which stimulates critical and creative thinking and promotes high expectations of achievement.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced teacher of Secondary English and/or English Language.

This position could be 0.6FTE-1.0FTE depending on other methods.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should be trained secondary teachers with a Bachelor of Education or equivalent qualification. All teachers at Cornish College must be registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, this may include full registration, Permission to Teach or Provisional Registration.  Further details of registration are available from the VIT www.vit.vic.edu.au  Applicants will be asked to quote their VIT registration in their application. 

We are looking for applicants who meet the following criteria:

• An understanding of and experience in inquiry-based pedagogy

• Expertise and experience, including excellent subject knowledge

• A desire and proven ability to work in teams in and out of the classroom

• An outstanding record in building relationships with students, parents and staff

Other desirable experience and qualities include:       

• A knowledge of the Understanding by Design process and concept-driven curriculum

• A passion for and broad understanding of sustainability

• Experience and belief in Restorative Practices

• A desire to Make a Difference in and beyond schools
