Role description

Do you love the unhurried end of the day, when children’s own ideas take the lead?

Without the demands of the school day, BGOSH is a time for children to choose what they need: playing with a friend, reading snuggled up on the couch, a board game, or a spot of gardening in the BGOSH Garden. Would you like to join us in making it an invitation to belonging, connection and rest?

About us
Blue Gum Community School is a small, independent, co-ed Preschool and Primary School in Hornsby. BGOSH (Blue Gum Out of School Hours) is our own before and after school care and School Holiday Program, for children from both our Preschool and Primary School. It is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and My Time, Our Place.

The role

  • Permanent, working as part of a small team guided by our Principal and BGOSH Director
  • Term time: 2:45–6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Term breaks: 8am–6pm, supporting our School Holiday Program
  • Co-design afternoons and holidays with children
  • BGOSH closes for four weeks over summer

A day in the role

  • Bring our philosophy and pedagogy to life
  • Contribute to a rich, playful program
  • Take a strengths-based approach, rather than a deficit model
  • Respond to conflict restoratively, rather than with rewards and punishments
  • Prepare spaces, indoors and out, with care and intention, to engage the senses and invite authentic experiences
  • Build a genuine sense of belonging with children, families and the team
  • Keep children safe, acting promptly on any concern

What we offer

  • A role at the heart of Blue Gum: BGOSH is part of the school, not an added extra, and our team is an essential par…
