Role description
Early Childhood Teacher (Full-time) – Blue Gum Preschool, Hornsby
Are you a teacher who is endlessly curious about children’s ideas? Do you believe school can be re-imagined, and want to be part of doing it? Do you want to call children up into who they can be, rather than call them out?
About us
Blue Gum Community School is a small, independent Preschool and Primary School in Hornsby. Our practice is deeply inspired by the educational project in Reggio Emilia, alongside the EYLF and our school philosophy. We have a long history in early childhood education, and we see our school as a place of strong relationships and deep research. Children and adults alike are seen as, and invited to be, responsible, resilient, resourceful, capable, creative and curious.
The role
We’re looking for an exceptional Early Childhood Teacher to join our Preschool full-time, starting January 2027. We’d consider an earlier start for the right person.
This role is for someone who is deeply curious, committed to their own learning, and drawn to the ideas of Reggio Emilia, not just familiar with them. We co-research with our children in a responsive, inquiry-led program shaped by community and relationships. You’ll work alongside a small team of thoughtful, respectful teachers who work together with intention to offer an exceptional Preschool experience.
We never work alone. We think together, wrestle with ideas, disagree well, and keep asking how theory shapes practice and practice shapes theory. Critical reflection isn’t an extra here; it’s our normal.
