Role description
Playford International College seeks an innovative English/Literacy teacher for Playford Connections, our offsite flexible learning campus reconnecting young people with education.
Working with small groups of students affected by trauma, disrupted schooling, disengagement and low literacy, you will put relationships, wellbeing and belonging at the heart of learning.
We seek an educator skilled in trauma-informed practice, explicit, evidence-informed literacy intervention and highly differentiated teaching. You will build foundational skills, confidence and meaningful pathways to success.
This is not a traditional teaching role. We value creativity, flexibility and educational risk-taking through projects, learning expeditions and real-world experiences.
You will:
Build trusting relationships and a safe, inclusive culture with high expectations.
Teach literacy to students significantly below year level, personalising instruction and measuring growth.
Re-engage reluctant learners through authentic, differentiated learning.
Partner with families, youth workers, wellbeing staff and external agencies.
We seek someone who sees possibilities, not barriers.
12-month contract for 2027, with potential for ongoing employment.
Please apply with the following:
Describe a time you successfully built relationships and re-engaged a student experiencing complex trauma or significant barriers to education. What was the impact?
Provide an example of how you supported students with significantly below-year-level literacy skills. How did you differentiate learning and measure grow…
