Selection Criteria
An ability to work positively and effectively within a trans-disciplinary team comprised of school staff, families, students and external organisations.
Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills.
An ability to deliver speech pathology services to students with a disability within an educational setting including assessment, reporting, and intervention.
Experience and knowledge in the use and application of low-tech and high-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems.
Commitment to and ability to follow established school frameworks, timelines, and priorities and work effectively with the school leadership team.
An ability and willingness to provide professional development and information sessions to staff and families in relevant areas of speech pathology practise.
Role
The school currently has a part time speech pathologist and this position will extend the support provided to students. The current position is for 3 days per week (22.8 hours) but days and times are negotiable. An education support class employee (EFT) accrues 50 days paid leave each year which is taken during the school holidays.
The Speech Pathologist at Waratah SDS works collaboratively with teachers, assistants, therapists, and families to develop student¿s understanding and use of language and communication; and to support their mealtime safety.
