Role description

St Teresa of Kolkata Primary school opened in 2024 and we are continuing to expand and grow. From next year, we will have a part-time job for a School Bursar  who will work alongside the Principal and the Administration Manager. This beautiful new community is vibrant and welcoming and we are seeking someone with a strong financial knowledge but who also relates well to children, parents and staff.

The Bursar role description (included below) highlights the diversity of the role. In essence, it is primarily a role that oversees and manages the financial arrangements within a primary school setting. The Bursar may also be requested to assist with office duties from time to time and help to manage enrolment procedures during the year. There will also be an expectation to be involved in some of the school events especially those that build community.

The role will commence in January 2027, however we are open to the possibility of commencing this term one day a week as a way to learn the systems prior to starting.

We are seeking someone who has a history in working efficiently in finances. Although it is not mandatory, experience working as a Bursar in a school will be considered an advantage. The school uses the Melbourne Archdiocese platform ICON to manage bills, school fees and contracts.

As this role involves working with many people in our community and the office is the first point of introduction, we are looking for someone who is friendly, welcoming and compassionate.

This on-going role is ideally 3 days a week. However, for someone with experience we would consider 2 days…
