Senior School Literacy Support Teacher – Macquarie College

Macquarie College is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Literacy Support Teacher to join the College’s Senior School on a 12-month contract commencing in January 2027. Support students in Years 7–12 through targeted literacy intervention and collaborate with teachers to strengthen literacy across the curriculum.

Macquarie College (MC) is a Preschool to Year 12 independent school owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Located on the border of Wallsend and Elermore Vale in Newcastle, the College has a history of providing quality Christian education for over 120 years.

Reporting to the Assistant Head of Senior School (Academics), you will identify literacy needs, design and deliver targeted individual and small-group interventions, and monitor student progress. Your work will help students strengthen their reading, writing, vocabulary and communication skills, building confidence and independence.

You will collaborate with classroom teachers and Learning Support staff to embed effective literacy strategies across subject areas, provide professional learning and use assessment data to guide improvement. Working closely with families, you will help students access the curriculum and achieve their potential within a supportive Christian learning community.
