East Kimberley College is one of the largest Kindergarten to Year 12 schools in Western Australia with approximately 1080 students enrolled. The school’s ICSEA is 897. The college has a diverse student population with 52% students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres St Islander, 56% of students with English as an Additional Language and an increasing number of multilingual students born overseas. There is both student and staff turnover throughout the year with approximately 1/3 of students and staff entering or exiting each year. There is often a high proportion of early career teachers. There are collaborative learning teams across the College organised by year level or Learning Areas or improvement focus.

The College is situated in the town of Kununurra and offers all that one would expect in a larger metropolitan school, yet has that unique friendly atmosphere typical of a rural community.
