East Kalgoorlie Primary School (EKPS) is located on the eastern fringe of Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Williamstown and serves a diverse community across the city. Approximately 94% of our students identify as Aboriginal, and with an Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) of 648, we are deeply committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background, learning needs, or personal circumstances.

Our students bring diverse strengths, languages and experiences to school, and we place high-quality education at the forefront of our work. Staff hold high expectations for every learner and use evidence-based teaching, assessment and collaborative planning to provide explicit, responsive instruction. Teaching follows a continuous cycle of identifying student needs, planning and delivering instruction, checking its impact and refining practice.

Cultural responsiveness shapes how we teach and build relationships. Aboriginal culture, identity and language are valued and embedded in everyday school life. Our integrated learning approach connects curriculum with students’ experiences, community knowledge and local context, creating meaningful opportunities for students to see themselves reflected in their learning.
