Founded in 1881 by the Marist Brothers, St Joseph’s College is a boarding and day secondary boys school, whose Catholic identity is shaped by Marist spirituality and traditions. Governed by Marist Schools Australia, the College enrolment is 1,100 students.

Head of Music

Full time, fixed term contract commencing at the start of Term 1, 2027

The College seeks to appoint an outstanding and experienced leader with a vision for excellence and innovation in music education. The Head of Music will work to consolidate and further advance current programs in the well-resourced and vibrant Brother Louis Music Centre.

The Head of Music is a member of the middle leaders and the Teaching and Learning Team.  Heads of Department carry the primary responsibility for the ongoing development and supervision of the curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning that is provided for each student.

Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Department exercises leadership and management of their Department, which is responsible for the development and implementation of the relevant subject based curricular in line with the College’s Learning Framework and the NSW Education Standard Authority requirements. 

The successful applicant will work alongside the Head of Performing Arts, who is directly responsible for the management and running of a comprehensive elective instrumental program as well as co-curricular and liturgical life of the College.
