Chirnside Park Primary School is a school of approximately 420 students. The school is a friendly, welcoming and inclusive school with a keen focus on student wellbeing, engagement and achievement. Our high academic results are testament to the fact that we promote a whole-school, evidence-based approach to teaching and learning. We prioritise privileged time for staff professional collaboration and teacher professional learning, and we have developed specific Chirnside Park Instructional Models for the way we approach teaching and learning across all grades, including: The Science of Reading and Writing, Explicit Direct Instruction and Top Ten Mathematics.

Staff at Chirnside Park understand that learning and wellbeing are mutually dependent. Social and emotional learning has a significant impact on a student's ability to engage with the curriculum and learn effectively. At CPPS, there is an agreed whole-school, tiered approach to student wellbeing, and behavioural expectations are high. We pride ourselves on having calm and orderly classes where the focus is clearly on teaching and learning.

The cornerstone of our wellbeing program is our commitment to the development of Social and Emotional Learning through The Resilience Project and our school-wide commitment to developing our understanding of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. The Resilience Project is delivered in conjunction with the Department's Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program.
