Role description
Ernabella Aangu School is a Birth to Year 12 Aboriginal school located in Pukatja Community on the Aangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands. The school works in partnership with Aangu educators, families and community to provide culturally responsive education.
The Health and Physical Education Teacher will lead the development and delivery of a high-quality, sequential Health and Physical Education program from preschool to Year 12. The role will build students' physical skills, health knowledge, confidence, teamwork and lifelong participation in physical activity.
A key responsibility will be coordinating opportunities for swimming, water safety and aquatic activities using the Pukatja community pool. This will include working with appropriately qualified providers and school staff to ensure programs are safe, inclusive and suited to students' ages and abilities. The teacher will work closely with classroom teachers and Aangu educators to embed consistent Health and Physical Education practice across the school. They will establish partnerships with sporting organisations, visiting providers and community services to expand opportunities through clinics, competitions, carnivals, leadership activities and pathways into community sport.
The successful applicant will demonstrate strong Health and Physical Education teaching practice, effective program coordination and the ability to engage students across a broad range of ages and abilities. Experience working with Aboriginal students, remote communities or external sporting providers would be highly regarded.
