Injury Management Consultant

This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP

The Department’s Work Health Safety and Wellbeing Directorate comprises two branches: Safety and Staff Wellbeing and Employee Support Services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that legislative frameworks are complied with and that employees’ mental health and wellbeing are supported. It provides strategic and operational advice to the Minister, Director General, school leaders and line managers on a range of matters including:

• workers’ compensation
• injury management
• work health and safety (WHS)
• staff wellbeing
• employee assistance and mediation programs

The Role

The Injury Management Consultant will coordinate an in-house injury management service for compensable and non-compensable cases. They will provide operational and strategic advice to ensure effective and efficient management of employees with a medical condition that is impacting on their work. They will also provide effective communication and advisory services to assist and support worksites to manage the development and implementation of risk management strategies to reduce the impact of staff with injuries, illness or a disability.

The successful applicant will assist in formulating and implementing proactive and preventative policies, guidelines and projects associated with injury management to reduce the costs associated with worker’s compensation and sickness.
