Role description

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and reliable Office Receptionist to join our school in Wadeye. You'll greet visitors, answer phone calls, and provide general administrative support to help our front office run smoothly.

Initially, this will be a fixed-term contract for Term 4 2026 (Oct – mid Dec 2026), with a view to extending to an ongoing/permanent position.

The School

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College (OLSHT) is the sole provider of compulsory education in the remote Aboriginal community of Wadeye, 430 km south-west of Darwin. With enrolments of 450–550 students from Preschool to Year 12, OLSHT is a bilingual and bicultural school, integrating Thamarrurr culture and the Murrinhpatha language across all aspects of learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting and assisting visitors, staff, students, and parents.
  • Answering and directing phone calls and general enquiries
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
  • Maintaining student and staff records and filing systems
  • Assisting with data entry and general administrative support
  • Coordinating appointments and bookings as required
  • Supporting front-office financial tasks (e.g. invoicing) as needed
  • Maintaining a welcoming, professional, and organised reception area
