Role description

The Damascus College Rowing Program is a vibrant and committed community of students, parents, and staff. Rowing is a wonderful team sport that demands commitment, passion and hard work.

The College acknowledges the critical role undertaken by our Volunteer Rowing Coaches in upholding the College’s duty of care responsibilities to our students, in ensuring our students train and compete in a safe environment that is enjoyable and instils a lifelong education and appreciation of healthy living and wellbeing.

As a volunteer rowing coach, you will be responsible for planning and delivering rowing sessions under the direction of the Leader of Rowing & Head Coach and Assistant Rowing Coordinator. Coaching roles are offered on a seasonal basis from August to March, with weekly commitments varying based on the training and regatta schedule. The weekly time commitment is based on your availability, ideally each volunteer rowing coach will complete 2 x 2 hour training sessions a week.

Experience & Qualifications
Rowing Coaches are anticipated to have experience in coaching rowing at a Junior or Senior level or have experience in rowing at a Senior level.

Before commencing, all coaches must hold the following: 

 

  • Rowing Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation
  • Current Victorian Marine Licence
  • Current Level 2 First Aid
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children's Check (Volunteer or Employee status) OR a current VIT registration
  • Current Drivers Licence (required only for coaches who will be driving the school bus)
