Role description

Position: Middle School Technology/Visual Arts Teacher (Years 6-8)

Status: Permanent Full Time

Position Location: Burgmann Anglican School, Forde Campus, Corner Francis Forde Boulevard and Hurrell Streets, Forde

Burgmann Anglican School is an Early Childhood to Year 12 School with campuses located at Gungahlin and Forde.

The school prides itself on its innovative and creative approach to curriculum and education and its strong sense of community and pastoral care of the students and their families and the staff of the school. The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school.

Line Management

  • Responsible to the Head of Middle School and ultimately the Principal through: 
    • Deputy Head of Middle School (Learning and Teaching) and Deputy Head of Middle School (Culture & Wellbeing)
    •  The appointee will be required to work collaboratively with a Middle School Year Level Teams.

Duties

  • Lead and teach the Digital Technologies and Design programs to Middle School students, with a focus on computational thinking, algorithms, programming, data systems, cybersecurity and digital solutions
  • Oversee the Design Assistant and provide direction around the preparation of resources and maintenance and compliance of the Technology and Visual Arts spaces
  • Teach with a focus on developing higher order thinking skills, design thinking and self-regulation skills
