Role description

As a teacher in the Special Option classes at Reynella East College, you will deliver high-quality, individualised educational programs for students with a range of disabilities and additional learning needs. The role centres on inclusive practices, providing differentiated learning experiences tailored to each student?s academic, social, and emotional development.
Building positive and supportive relationships is essential to this role. You will work to establish respectful, trusting connections with students, their families, and carers, recognising the unique context and needs of each child. This includes fostering collaborative, strengths-based partnerships with colleagues and support staff to ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment, and maintaining sensitive, regular communication with families and external providers about students? progress and strategies in place.

Supporting students with complex needs and behaviours of concern is a key responsibility. You will identify underlying causes and triggers of behaviours, applying proactive and positive behaviour support strategies to promote student wellbeing and resilience. The role requires the consistent use of trauma-informed and restorative practices, responding professionally to incidents and ensuring all actions align with Department for Education policies and duty of care requirements.
