Gembrook Primary School is located in Gembrook in the Dandenong Ranges approximately 50 kilometres from the city of Melbourne. It is part of the Dandenong Ranges Network with close ties to EDEC (Emerald District Education Community). The school participates in sporting and community events with the local EDEC schools. The school also has strong links and extensive transition programs with Gembrook Pre-School, Where We Grow Early Learning Centre and local Secondary Colleges. A before and after school bus service operates for students who live in the outer area of Gembrook. 

Gembrook is a thriving township with a growing number of boutique shops and cafes.  

The school has strong links with local community organisations. The school has had consistent support from local businesses, community organisations and local environmental groups.

The current enrolment is around 255 students. This enrolment number is quite steady. The School Family Occupation index is .31 There are no non-English speaking background students. There is a small group of students on the Disability Inclusion Teir 3 program. The school provides classroom support and an extensive transition program for these students. 

At Gembrook we value and promote the importance of the partnership between home and school. Gembrook has an active School Council and Parents and Friends Association.
