About the Role
The Learning Support Officer (LSO) works under the direction of the classroom teacher and leadership team to provide educational, behavioural, and social-emotional support for students with diverse learning needs. The LSO plays a vital role in fostering inclusion, engagement, and wellbeing, contributing to a positive and safe learning environment for all.
Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:

- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) and adjustments for students with additional needs.
- Support students’ participation in classroom activities, both individually and in small groups.
- Implement specific learning, communication, or behaviour strategies as directed by teachers, specialists, or wellbeing staff.
- Provide supervision and assistance during transitions, playground duty, or specialist sessions as required.
- Help prepare and adapt classroom materials or resources to suit individual learning needs.
- Observe and record student progress or behaviours as directed, providing feedback to the teacher.
- Promote student independence, self-regulation, and confidence through supportive interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity and privacy of students and families.
- Participate in relevant professional learning to support school priorities, such as Structured Literacy, School Wide Positive Behaviour Support and Child Safety.
