Role description

About the role

This position is a part-time, fixed-term (until the end of 2026) Learning Support Officer.

This position will be 18 hours/week (FTE 0.48).

About the Role

Our LSOs play a vital role in nurturing students’ learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging. Working alongside classroom teachers and our Learning Diversity Leader, LSOs support students with diverse learning needs — ensuring that every child is known, valued, and supported to flourish.

Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • providing a commitment to Catholic Education and to the safety, wellbeing and protection of children and young people;
  • proactively monitoring and supporting student wellbeing;
  • demonstrating duty of care to students in relation to their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • displaying a proven commitment to developing independence in students with additional learning needs;
  • assisting and working with the classroom teacher to provide the required support for individual students;
  • working under the instruction and supervision of the classroom teacher or other supervising teacher;
  • effectively using information technologies as a tool for learning;
  • meeting and working with students at designated locations and times;
  • supporting and caring for individual students with specific learning, medical and hygiene and self-care needs;
  • assisting students to attend special events such as excursions, camps and swimming where required.
