Role description
The Headmaster seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Christian educator who demonstrates a commitment to their Christian faith, as evidenced by regular attendance and involvement at a Church, to this full-time, permanent position within the highly professional, dynamic, and industrious History Faculty. The successful applicant will be required to teach History in Stages 4 and 5, and Stage 6 Modern History. The ability to teach Studies of Religion would be a distinct advantage.
The staff of Macarthur are beneficiaries of well-resourced facilities, an Apple laptop computer (for the duration of employment) and a supportive Christian teaching environment.
Candidates for this role will be required to demonstrate:
- a passion for teaching and a deep knowledge of the various syllabus documents taught within the Faculty;
- a particular passion for Stage 6 Modern History;
- an innovative approach to teaching and learning;
- an understanding of and commitment to student well-being;
- well-developed written, oral and organisational skills;
- a comprehensive understanding of classroom differentiation;
- a commitment to detailed and timely feedback to students; and,
- a deep understanding of how students think and learn.
The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate innovative use of ICT in teaching and learning, proficiency in writing teaching programmes, and an understanding of best practices in student assessment and feedback.
