Role description
St Hurmizd Assyrian Primary School is an independent Christian school serving students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are committed to nurturing academic excellence, faith, and wellbeing within a supportive community.
We are seeking an experienced School Librarian for a permanent full-time position commencing at the start of the 2027 school year. The successful applicant will promote literacy, foster a love of reading and support independent learning across the school.
About the Role
You will manage the school library while fostering a love of reading, research and independent learning across K–6. The role combines library operations, literacy support, collaboration with teachers, and coordination of reading initiatives, all grounded in Assyrian heritage, Christian values, and the school's vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the library, including borrowing, cataloguing and resource organisation.
- Maintain a current, relevant and culturally appropriate library collection.
- Deliver engaging library lessons focused on reading, research and information literacy.
- Support students in developing independent reading and digital research skills.
- Collaborate with teachers to source resources and support classroom programs.
- Coordinate reading initiatives, Book Week activities and literacy events.
- Promote literature that reflects the school’s Assyrian heritage and Christian values.
