Role description

Reporting to the Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning, this significant leadership role will drive the development, implementation and evaluation of whole-school literacy and numeracy improvement initiatives across Years 7-12. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with Learning Leaders and teaching staff to embed evidence-informed practices that enhance student achievement, growth and engagement.

This Position of Responsibility is offered for a four-year tenure, with substantial leadership release time, alongside an ongoing teaching position at the College.

You'll be able to:

  • Lead the College's literacy and numeracy strategy across Years 7-12, ensuring a consistent and evidence-informed approach to curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. 
  • Support Learning Leaders and teachers to embed discipline-specific literacy and numeracy practices that respond to student needs. 
  • Design and facilitate professional learning that strengthens teacher capability in literacy and numeracy instruction. 
  • Promote high-impact teaching strategies including explicit instruction, modelling, feedback, formative assessment and deliberate practice. 
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of student achievement data, including NAPLAN, PAT and school-based assessment results, to inform improvement planning. 
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of literacy and numeracy initiatives and report on progress against College improvement goals. 
  • Coordinate targeted literacy and numeracy interventions through collaboration with Learning Leaders, the Learning Diversity Team and other key stakeholders.
