Role description

Position Details:

We are seeking a qualified, dynamic and enthusiastic Education Assistant to work in our Year Two classroom, providing individualised support to a student with a disability and to work with small groups of students as needed.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a sound understanding of working with children with disability and an ability to support their learning, wellbeing, participation and inclusion within the classroom and broader school environment. The role will involve working closely with the classroom teacher and other members of the school team to implement appropriate strategies and provide a positive, supportive and engaging learning environment.
Applicants should be compassionate, patient, flexible and proactive, with the ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with the student while encouraging independence, confidence and participation in classroom activities.
The successful applicant will be willing to work collaboratively as part of a positive, energetic and professional team committed to the development of the whole child and to supporting the ethos and values of Catholic Education.
This is a Temporary Part-Time position, working Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–11:50am.

Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of effective strategies for supporting students on the Autism Spectrum, including an ability to respond to individual learning, behavioural and social needs.
