Role description


This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2026

Eight regional offices and seven local education offices are located across the State. Regional offices and local education offices are staffed as determined by the Regional Executive Director, in accordance with local context and needs.

The Goldfields Education Regional Office works collaboratively with officers in Central Office and Statewide Services to support schools with policy advice; development and allocation of resources; management of projects and contracts for service; developing quality assurance processes for programs aimed at improving educational outcomes for students

The Role

The School Education Act allows parents to exercise educational choice. One option allows parents to choose to register as home educators who assume responsibility for their children’s education during the compulsory years of school. The Department registers and monitors home educators to confirm that the educational programs delivered to children at home meet the requirements of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline and that the children are showing educational progress.

Home School Moderators will effectively liaise with home educating families to evaluate their programs and student progress, ensuring that programs being implemented are adequate to the needs and abilities of the students.
