Nestled on the banks of the Snowy River, just 5 km west of Orbost on the Princes Highway and 50 km east of Lakes Entrance, Newmerella Primary School has been at the heart of its community since 1939. As a small rural school, we offer the perfect balance of personalised learning, strong community connections, and outstanding educational opportunities.

We proudly welcome students from Newmerella, Orbost and the surrounding communities of Lochend, Corringle Beach, Bete Bolong, Tostaree and Wairewa. Our close-knit school community is built on respect, inclusion and genuine partnerships, where every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their personal best.

With approximately 42 students across three multi-age learning communities, our small class sizes enable highly personalised teaching and learning. Students benefit from strong teacher support, targeted learning programs, explicit teaching and meaningful opportunities to develop academically, socially and emotionally.
