Aboriginal On Track to Thrive Program Support Officer

This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP up until June, 2027 with possible permanency

The South Metropolitan Education Region (the Region) comprises 284 public schools servicing students in the South Metropolitan area of Western Australia. Of these, 50 schools provide Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs to secondary students.

On Track to Thrive is a program being delivered through a cross-agency partnership, led by the Department of Justice in collaboration with WA Police Force and Departments of Communities, Education and Health across the Armadale Policing District. The program will provide supports focussed on a child’s development and wellbeing, strengthen protective factors for both the child and their family, and help shape a future where children are supported to thrive.

On Track to Thrive is made up of several key components, which all have the funding and support of WA Government. These include discreet funded services, working in a co-ordinated way to wrap supports around each child and their family for up to 12 months; an Expert Reference Groups, providing assessment and advice in relation to a tailored service response for each child. The Department of Education is dedicating resources to this program to support children’s learning and school engagement. Staff will work to build regular relationship visits with children in their schools or to reconnect children and their families who are disengaged with agencies to ensure a more positive engagement pathway back to school.
