Gaayip-Yagila Primary School is a steadily growing school community located in the Merrifield Estate in Mickleham. Our school has a current enrolment of 1040 students. 

We are proud of our culturally rich community, with over 63% of our students identified as having English as an Additional Language and 34 language backgrounds represented across the school. Our diversity is a key strength, and we value strong partnerships with families and are committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and excellence for all learners.

Gaayip-Yagila Primary School has been designed to meet the needs of modern learners. There are 3 purpose-built learning neighbourhoods, as well as modern relocatables. Our school¿s Sports and Arts Centre provides a full-size competition court alongside a performing arts space, supporting student participation in sport, performance, and whole-school community events. Extensive outdoor spaces, including 3 playgrounds, a nature walk, kitchen garden and landscaped areas further enhance opportunities for active play, wellbeing, and connection.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

At Gaayip-Yagila Primary School, our teaching and learning model is grounded in explicit instruction, supported by the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0). We deliver a structured, evidence-based approach that ensures clarity, consistency, and strong student engagement.
