At Watsonia Primary School, we are in our second year of implementation of a Structured Literacy Approach in Prep to Year Two. We utilise the Little Learners Love Literacy Scope & Sequence, Resources and Assessments within the classrooms and for intervention as well as the DIBELS assessment suite. Students will progress through the continuum as they master skills. In grades 3-6, word study will continue with more grammar and morphology. Our Prep to 2 Literacy Block focuses on evidence-based approaches and includes the six key components of the `Big Six¿ of Reading these include; oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
