Location Profile

Marlo Primary School is a small rural school situated in a beautiful bushland setting at Marlo near the mouth of the Snowy River, 14km from Orbost. The current student population of 50 students are drawn from the local area, with the majority living in the immediate township of Marlo (population 564). 

 

Marlo Primary School has a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy and is expanding knowledge and application of student agency in learning. The school has long standing traditions in connecting with the local community and environment. Students develop an appreciation for the world in which they live and a growing awareness of sustainability through their science, technology and extra-curricular activities.

 

Marlo PS has its own school bus and whenever possible takes the opportunity to utilise the local natural environment to enhance the students¿ learning. 

 

The school provides a positive and productive learning environment, with a school culture underpinned by shared values.  There is an emphasis on individualised learning, respectful relationships and inclusion. With a wealth of information technology resources, iPads and laptops for each child, the school continues to emphasise the importance of ICT as an important tool to assist teaching and learning.

 

As part of the Snowy River Education Community (SREC), Marlo PS students participate in combined camps and sports days, building strong connections with other local schools.
