Role description

Seymour College is seeking an enthusiastic and highly capable Teacher of Chinese and English as an Additional Language (EAL) to join our Middle and Senior School on a full-time fixed-term contract for Term 1, 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students through engaging language learning experiences while contributing to a vibrant and supportive learning community.

In this role you will teach Chinese and EAL across middle and senior year levels, fostering students' language proficiency, intercultural understanding and confidence as communicators. You will create engaging and purposeful learning experiences that challenge and support students to achieve their personal best, while nurturing curiosity, resilience and a lifelong love of learning.

The key responsibilities are to:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Chinese and EAL programs that support student learning, achievement and language development.
  • Differentiate curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners with diverse abilities, backgrounds and language proficiencies.
  • Use a range of assessment practices to monitor progress, provide timely feedback and support continuous student growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and contribute to innovative teaching and learning practices.
  • Foster positive relationships with students and support their academic, social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Uphold the College's commitment to child safety and student wellbeing in all aspects of professional practice.
