Education Support Professional (SLSO), St Ives
Meaningful 1:1 Educational Support / Teaching Learning Support opportunity.
Flexible hours / times, including during school hours, after school and weekends over a 6-8 week period, supporting a Year 6 student access mainstream school while she recovers at home from surgery.
Experience innovative AAC learning access with bright, engaged non-verbal 12 year-old girl, working towards completing assessments and ultimately HSC on eye gaze device, with long-term, ongoing options:
- During school hours - via applying for to support her at her local High School from 2027 - Years 7 - 12
- Outside school hours - helping with High School Homework at home.
We are looking for the right person to our Year 6 daughter who has been fully accessing the mainstream curriculum.
She is a highly capable, engaged learner with a physical disability similar to Cerebral Palsy – a locked-in syndrome but with no intellectual or behavioural challenges.
She is non-verbal and has an age-appropriate understanding of spoken language and has developed strong communication skills primarily through eye gaze. She is fully participating in the mainstream curriculum and is increasingly using her Tobii i13 eye-gaze device and low-tech AAC, including an Etran frame, to access her learning.
She is a bright, enthusiastic student with high educational aspirations and the long-term goal of completing her HSC using eye-gaze technology.
