ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
At Saint Ignatius’ College, we are committed to forming the next generation of educators through experiences that align with our Ignatian tradition: to know, nurture, and challenge each person to “go, set the world alight.”
Our Pre-Service Teacher Education Internship provides aspiring teachers with a deeply supportive and formative pathway, offering real classroom immersion, structured mentoring, and professional growth opportunities within a vibrant school environment.
We combine immersive teaching practice, evidence-informed instructional coaching, and a scaffolded mentoring program so that pre-service teachers develop both craft and character.
This opportunity will suit pre-service teachers enrolled in the following areas:
- Primary or Junior Primary Teaching
- Secondary Teaching specialising in Mathematics and/or Science
VALUE AND COMMITMENT
Time Commitment:
- One day per week (or equivalent across 30 weeks, excluding the final placement period) to be spent on-site at the College throughout the academic year.
- Completion of an unpaid final placement at either the Ignatius Early Years, Junior School or Senior School.
- Active participation in structured coaching and mentoring cycles with an assigned mentor teacher.
Professional Expectations:
- Adherence to the professional and ethical standards of the teaching profession is required at all times.
Employment Conditions:
- Successful applicants will be engaged as casual employees of the College under the South Australia Catholic Education Enterprise Agreement 2020 (or replaced).
