The Ngura Yadurirn Children and Family Centre is a full-time rural integrated service for children from birth to school age providing preschool, including an inclusive preschool program for children with additional needs, occasional care, playgroups and a range of family support programs provided by allied health staff, community development and family support co-ordinators. The newly built facilities provide an amazing natural learning environment that fosters dialogue and relationships, these coupled with the skilled workforce are proving to accelerate the outcomes for children and their families.
Ngura Yadurirn Children and Family Centre was named in consultation with the community and means `Place we go to become bigger, stronger and better'. The centre is a full time rural integrated service for children from birth to school age providing preschool (including 3yr old Aboriginal children program), including an inclusive preschool programme for children with additional needs, occasional care, playgroups and a range of family support programmes provided by allied health staff, community development and occupational therapist.
Since 2016 the site has successfully implemented the Australian Government funded Connected Beginning programme which is designed to support Aboriginal children and their families in areas of high need be well prepared for school by supporting pregnant Aboriginal women, and Aboriginal children from birth to school age.
