Position Type: School Operation | Employment Status: Permanent/Ongoing | Classification Level: ESO6  

 

Xavier College invites applications for a compassionate and experienced College Counsellor at our Evanston (R-6) Campus. In this role, you will deliver quality counselling services that support students’ emotional, social and academic wellbeing, fostering a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel heard, supported and empowered within the College’s Catholic and Salesian tradition.

Commencing January 2027, this is a permanent, part-time position working during school terms and the week prior to the commencement of Term 1. Hours of work will be between Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm. Days and hours may be negotiable for the right candidate.

 

As the College Counsellor, you will:

  • Provide professional counselling support to students experiencing emotional, social or academic challenges, promoting their ongoing wellbeing and personal growth
  • Be an integral member of the College’s student care and wellbeing services
  • Serve as a specialist resource for teaching staff, offering guidance and strategies to support student wellbeing and resilience
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding issues affecting students’ wellbeing and family relationships
  • Build and maintain partnerships with allied health professionals and external support agencies to enhance student care
  • Promote a safe, positive and inclusive culture among students and staff
  • Maintain accurate, secure and confidential case notes, records and reports for all counselling interventions
