Xavier College invites applications for a compassionate and experienced College Counsellor at our Gawler Belt (7-12) Campus. In this role, you will deliver quality counselling services that support students’ emotional, social and academic wellbeing, fostering a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel heard, supported and empowered within the College’s Catholic and Salesian tradition.

Commencing January 2027, this is a permanent, part-time position working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, during school terms and the week prior to the commencement of Term 1. Days and hours may be negotiable for the right candidate.

As the College Counsellor, you will:

  • Provide professional counselling support to students experiencing emotional, social or academic challenges, promoting their ongoing wellbeing and personal growth
  • Be an integral member of the College’s student care and wellbeing services
  • Serve as a specialist resource for teaching staff, offering guidance and strategies to support student wellbeing and resilience
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding issues affecting students’ wellbeing and family relationships
  • Build and maintain partnerships with allied health professionals and external support agencies to enhance student care
  • Promote a safe, positive and inclusive culture among students and staff
  • Maintain accurate, secure and confidential case notes, records and reports for all counselling interventions
