Role description

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated ability to assess and respond to the needs of all students, implementing targeted strategies to improve wellbeing, engagement, attendance and outcomes.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, using initiative to coordinate effective strategies and interventions for students.
  3. Highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with parents and carers, including participating in meetings to identify needs, communicate progress and develop collaborative support strategies.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of inclusive education and Disability Inclusion, with the ability to understand and contribute to Disability Inclusion Profile meetings and processes.
  6. Understanding of Child Safe Standards, confidentiality, privacy and professional boundaries, with the ability to exercise sound judgement when responding to student wellbeing and safety concerns.

Role

The Student Advocate serves as a dedicated support figure for students, ensuring their academic, emotional, and social well-being is recognized and addressed. They act as a liaison between students, staff, families, and external services, empowering students to overcome barriers and succeed in their educational journey.
