Role description
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants (SNEA) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Mount Hawthorn Education Support Centre is currently located at the Mount Hawthorn Primary School site and will be relocating to the Lake Monger Primary School site in Semester 2, 2027. The centre is founded on a strong commitment to high expectations, consistency and excellence in teaching and learning. The centre aims to provide an alternative learning environment for students with special needs. We aim to promote and develop students' educational, physical and social skills while increasing independence and knowledge in preparation for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of their future.

The Role
Under the direction of the teacher, suitable applicants will ideally utilise a range of skills which will include the use of explicit teaching, TEACCH, Direct Instruction, Team Teach, Key Word Sign and AAC. A sound knowledge of Information and communication technology (ICT) will be highly regarded, as computers and iPads are integral across all learning areas. Experience in supporting positive behaviour and functional skill development is desirable.
