Role description

Join a dedicated team supporting children and young people with disability.

St Patrick's Special School is seeking a  Bus Driver to join our team in a casual position of up to 20 hours per week during school terms.

The successful applicant will play a vital role in ensuring students travel safely, comfortably and with dignity to and from school and approved school activities. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, values positive relationships and is committed to making a difference in the lives of students and families.  

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely transporting students to and from school and school-related activities.
  • Conducting vehicle safety checks and maintaining accurate transport records.
  • Working collaboratively with bus assistants and school staff to support students with a range of learning, communication, mobility and health needs.
  • Maintaining positive and respectful relationships with students, families and staff.
  • Responding appropriately to incidents, emergencies and changes in student needs or transport arrangements.
  • Ensuring the school bus is safe, clean and ready for daily operation. 

You will demonstrate:

  • A commitment to the wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of children and young people.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliability, professionalism and sound judgement.
  • The ability to remain calm and respond effectively in changing situations.
  • Experience working with children, young people or people with disability (highly desirable).
