Role description

 

The Year Level Coordinator (YLC) is responsible for leading the Homeroom team in coordinating good student performance. The emphasis is on developing a positive and cooperative learning environment, a pride in personal achievement and in the College. The position advertised is a Middle School, Year Eight - Year Level Coordinator.

Well developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are vital for effective liaising with administration, staff, students and parents. The YLC is a member of the Wellbeing Team, chaired by the relevant Head of School. After the Homeroom teacher, the YLC is the manager of student welfare and discipline procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The YLC has responsibility for fostering the following outcomes at their year level:

  • A College environment in which students contribute, strive and achieve to their optimum.
  • An environment that fosters personal and shared responsibility, respect and resilience.
  • A College that respects all people and contributes to a positive individual, House, the College and community identity.
  • Efficient and effective administration procedures to meet the requirements of students, parents, the College and external bodies.
  • The modelling of expected codes of conduct for staff, students and parents.
  • Effective liaison with support agencies and the wider community.
  • Design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of current curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements within the College’s Teaching and Learning Framework.
