Role description

Location: Mount Carmel Catholic College, Varroville

A permanent full time position commencing 31 August 2026 (start date negotiable). The successful applicant will be required to teach Religious Education.

The role of Classroom Teacher exists to support growth in faith and improvement in learning for students to reach their full potential.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
  • Create and maintain an orderly, safe and supportive learning environment based on the principles of PB4L.
  • Apply knowledge of the diverse needs of students to support their full participation in learning.
  • Ability to plan for and implement effective teaching and learning in Religious Education.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning.
  • Demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents /carers and the wider school community.

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Ability to teach Stage 6.

GENERAL CAPABILITIES

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Appropriate qualifications for teaching nominated Key Learning Area (s).
  • Accredited Level D to teach Religious Education in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW.
  • The applicant must be accredited to teach with NESA.
