Libraries Tasmania is a unique organisation, providing contemporary library and archives services to all Tasmanians. Libraries Tasmania is responsible for Tasmania’s public library network, covering 47 locations statewide, and for the State Library and Archives of Tasmania.
About the role
The position works between two sites in greater Hobart, with occasional opportunities to travel within Tasmania as required.Hobart offers an excellent lifestyle, combining access to stunning national parks, beaches, and outdoor recreation with the amenities of a vibrant regional capital. It is known for its strong cultural sector and has been recognised as a UNESCO City of Literature.
The Tasmanian Archives and Special Collections unit operates within the State Library and Archives of Tasmania. The Collections Officer supports the Tasmanian Archives and Special Collections team by undertaking a range of collection-focused activities. These include Legal Deposit, preservation and conservation work, collection storage and retrieval, stack management, facilities support, collection documentation, and maintaining collection management systems. The role helps ensure that archival and special collections are preserved and accessible for current and future generations.
In performing the role, you will contribute to developing, preserving, and ensuring the accessibility of our collections through a range of duties including:
