About Libraries Tasmania
Libraries Tasmania is a unique organisation, providing contemporary library and archives services to all Tasmanians. Libraries Tasmania is responsible for Tasmania's public library network, covering 47 locations statewide, and for the State Library and Archives of Tasmania. The State Library and Archives preserves and shares Tasmania's documentary heritage and works with communities across the state to ensure that diverse stories, records, and histories are collected and accessible for future generations.
About the role
The position works across sites in greater Hobart, with opportunities to travel throughout Tasmania to engage with community organisations, local history groups, cultural organisations, and individuals.
Hobart offers an excellent lifestyle, combining access to stunning national parks, beaches, and outdoor recreation with the amenities of a vibrant regional capital. It is known for its strong cultural sector and has been recognised as a UNESCO City of Literature.
The Tasmanian Archives and Special Collections unit operates within the State Library and Archives of Tasmania. This role contributes to the development, management, preservation, and accessibility of Tasmania's archival collections, with a particular focus on working collaboratively with communities to identify, document, collect, and preserve records of enduring historical significance.
