Location Profile

William Ruthven Primary School is situated in the northern Melbourne suburb of Reservoir and currently has 140 students. It is supported by a dedicated staff team consisting of two principal class leaders, one learning specialist, six classroom teachers, three specialist teachers and five education support staff. 

Our vision is to develop literate, numerate and curious learners who are empowered and well prepared for each stage of their education. We instil personal and collective responsibility through our school values of Respect, Inclusion, Curiosity and Excellence. We hold high expectations for all and provide a safe, orderly and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. 

English and Mathematics form the core of our teaching and learning program. Social and emotional learning is strengthened through Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships and The Resilience Project, supporting students to develop empathy, resilience and strong interpersonal skills. Our education program is further enriched by our specialist subjects: Science/Robotics, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Auslan. Our teaching approaches enable us to tailor learning to meet the diverse needs of our students and support them to achieve their personal best. We view education as a strong partnership between school and home. By working closely with parents and carers, we ensure our students are supported academically, socially, emotionally and physically.
