Selection Criteria
SC1. Cultural Knowledge and Connection
Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history, and contemporary issues, and the ability to build respectful relationships with the local Indigenous community, Elders, and community organisations.
SC2. Student Engagement and Wellbeing
Proven ability to build positive, trusting relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families, and to support their engagement, attendance, wellbeing, and connection to culture within the school environment.
SC3. Collaborative Practice
Demonstrated capacity to work in partnership with the School Leadership Team, teaching staff, families, and community members to plan and implement strategies that improve educational outcomes for Koorie students. High levels of integrity, cultural sensitivity, resilience, and initiative, with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
SC4. Cultural Safety and Inclusion
Ability to contribute to a culturally safe and inclusive school environment, including supporting staff to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into school programs, policies, and everyday practice.
SC5. Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Well-developed communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across diverse groups including students, families, staff, and external Indigenous agencies and services.
