Role description

Working closely with the Head of Music, the successful applicant will provide leadership across all aspects of the College's String Program, inspiring students from ELC to Year 12 and fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion and enjoyment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the College's ELC–12 String Program.
  • Conduct and rehearse the College's premier string ensembles and support the development of junior ensembles.
  • Provide artistic and educational leadership for the String Program, ensuring a high standard of teaching and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Music to develop and implement the strategic direction of the String Program.
  • Coordinate performances, concerts, tours, workshops and external events involving string ensembles.
  • Mentor instrumental staff and contribute to curriculum and co-curricular initiatives where appropriate.
  • Support student recruitment, retention and progression within the String Program.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and families, fostering a welcoming and inclusive program

Hours are negotiated with the Head of Music; however, the successful applicant should be available to work on campus at least part of two days per week during school terms. Total contact time is approximately 5/6 hours a week.

An excellent opportunity exists to privately teach students within the College string program in addition to this leadership role.
