Role description

Wirreanda Secondary School invites applications from passionate, committed, and culturally responsive educators to join our dynamic team as an Aboriginal Education Teacher (AET). This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students achieve their potential, receive holistic support, and thrive in a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.

As an AET, you will work collaboratively with students, families, and staff to increase engagement, improve learning outcomes, and strengthen the connection between community and school.

Key Responsibilities
Champion the educational achievement, wellbeing, and engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across all year levels.
Develop and implement culturally informed programs and strategies that support student success.
Collaborate with ACEOs, teachers, leaders, families, and the wider community to promote inclusive practices and positive relationships.
Support the implementation of the Aboriginal Education Strategy
Advocate for students and their families, supporting access to learning, wellbeing, and external services as needed.
Monitor and report on student progress, participating in data analysis and school review processes.
Organise and participate in school and community events recognising Aboriginal culture, histories, and achievements.
