About School of Special Educational Needs: Disability

Role description


The School of Special Educational Needs: Disability (SSEND) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated, enthusiastic and dynamic Consulting Teachers from all phases of learning including Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary schooling for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 School year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

SSEND is an integral part of the Western Australian Department of Education’s Statewide Services and provides support for students with disability. SSEND is part of a federation of eight Specialist Schools within the Department of Education, inclusive of the four schools of Special Educational Need: the School of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (SSEND: BE), the School of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health (SSEN:MMH), the School of Special Educational Needs: Sensory (SSEND:S) and the School of Special Educational Needs: Disability (SSEND). Significant collaboration occurs between the Specialist Schools to coordinate support for schools and, where possible, sharing of resources, expertise, professional learning and complex case management.
