Role description


 

We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Carson Street School is the state’s only Education Support Primary School, and it educates early childhood and Primary aged students with moderate, severe and profound multiple disabilities often with comorbid medical conditions and sensory impairments.  All have communication difficulties and most are non-verbal. All students require highly differentiated curriculum, specialist teaching and learning programs, assistive technology and extensive adult support to access their learning programs and to provide daily living requirements. Students have a wide variety of medical conditions.

Our specialist Conductive Education program attracts enrolments from across the metropolitan area. Communication is a major focus at Carson Street School with students using various forms of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) including Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD).

The Role
